For data protection purposes, TC Digital is the controller of personal information processed through BatQuiz unless otherwise stated.

The information we collect depends on how you use BatQuiz and which features are available.

If BatQuiz allows participation without creating an account, we do not require account information simply to participate unless this is necessary for the relevant quiz or feature.

When you access BatQuiz, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including:

• approximate location derived from an IP address;
• pages or screens viewed;
• dates and times of access;
• referring pages;

Cookies and similar technologies

BatQuiz may use cookies, local storage or similar technologies to operate the service, maintain sessions, remember preferences, protect the service and understand how it is used.

Strictly necessary cookies and session storage support sign-in, challenge participation, security, live-game continuity and your consent choice. They cannot be switched off through the consent panel because BatQuiz may not function correctly without them.

Optional preference storage remembers choices such as narration and comedy-banter settings. It is used only after you choose Allow preferences. BatQuiz does not currently set advertising or third-party analytics cookies.

5. Quiz Results and Leaderboards

BatQuiz may process information relating to your participation in quizzes, including answers, scores, completion times and results.

If a quiz includes a leaderboard, your display name and, where you use a player profile, your username and quiz result may be visible to other participants.

We will not intentionally display information on a public leaderboard beyond what is reasonably necessary for the relevant quiz or competition.

Where appropriate, users should avoid choosing a display name that reveals personal information they do not wish to make visible to others.

6. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with trusted organisations that help us operate BatQuiz, such as providers of:

• website and application hosting;
• databases and cloud infrastructure;
• email delivery;
• authentication services;
• analytics;
• security and fraud prevention;
• technical monitoring and error reporting;
• customer support; and
• payment processing, if BatQuiz offers paid features.

These providers may only process personal information as necessary to provide their services to us and subject to appropriate contractual and security requirements.

8. How Long We Keep Your Information

Our intended retention periods are:

• Account information: whilst an account is active and 90 days if inactive.
• Quiz participation and results: 180 days.
• Server and security logs: permanent.

Where a fixed retention period is not appropriate, we determine retention based on the nature of the information, why it was collected, whether it remains necessary, any legal requirements and the potential risk associated with retaining it.

We may retain anonymised information that can no longer reasonably identify an individual for statistical or analytical purposes.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction.

These measures may include access controls, encryption, secure communications, backups, monitoring and restrictions on access to production systems.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping any account credentials associated with BatQuiz confidential.

10. Children's Privacy

BatQuiz is not intended for use by children.

BatQuiz is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children below that age without an appropriate legal basis or, where required, parental or guardian authorisation.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services. You should review their privacy information before providing them with personal information.
